Review: Storm by Brigid Kemmerer

Title: Storm
Author: Brigid Kemmerer
Publisher: Kensington
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 5 stars

Summary: Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys all the ones she doesn't want. Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They're powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.

And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.

Secrets are hard to keep when your life's at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who's hiding the most dangerous truth of all.

The storm is coming.

Review: Everybody always says that initially the reason they picked up this book was because of the cover. That wasn't really the case for me. I won this book in a giveaway (Big thanks to whoever I won this from, I'm sorry I can't remember!!) and while the cover did catch my eye I really hadn't given this book much thought. It wasn't till I started seeing this book popping up on everywhere and read multiple reviews raving about how good it was that I decided to put this book higher on the list and finally gave it a chance.

First off the whole Elements part of the story is so cool! And definitely something I've never read before. I didn't really know what to expect but I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed at all. I loved how each element went with the brothers personalities like for example Chris's element is water and he always seems to go with wherever life takes him and Gabriel's element is fire and he has the hot temper to go with it. And the fact that the brothers are incredibly attracted just made this book that much better. I couldn't help looking back at the cover a few times while I was reading the book.

Becca is one of the strongest characters I've read in a while. I loved how fearless and strong she tried to appear even when she had every right to be scared out her mind. Becca and Chris definitely had a connection and I every time they were together I would get so giddy. I'll admit in the beginning I kind of thought Chris was a bit of  a wuss...is that wrong? Am I the only one? I don't know but something about the way he was always scared and constantly getting his butt kicked kind of made him lose some brownie point for me. But luckily my opinion changed of him real fast and I quickly found him to be back in my good graces.

Action is non stop and you won't be able to put this book down! There were so many twist in the plot and I definitely didn't see the ending coming at all. I can't wait to read the next book but luckily there is a novella out about the other characters that I can check out until then. Read this book, you won't be disappointed!

Review: Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Title: Beautiful Disaster
Author: Jamie McGuire
Publisher: Self-Published
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 5 stars

Summary: The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend America, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the charming college co-ed. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’ apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Mature Young Adults (language, drinking, sexual situations)

Review: Lately I've been reading a lot of Indie books and I've been surprised with how much I enjoyed them. Beautiful Disaster is no exception.

Honestly when I first saw this book I put it on my wishlist but I didn't plan on reading it any time soon. I have a ton of books that I should be reading right now but for some reason every time I would try to read another book, my mind kept going back to this one. Finally I decided to give it a shot and see if it was any good and I haven't looked back since.

This book became an addiction to me. I couldn't get enough of Abby and Travis's crazy relationship. And boy is their relationship crazy. I'll admit: their relationship is really unhealthy like borderline obsession. But I couldn't help but love their relationship anyway. Travis did a complete one-eighty for her and was willing to do pretty much anything for her no matter what. McGuire did a really good job with making his bad boy turned good persona seem realistic.

I really liked Abby, I thought it was refreshing to have a main character not succumb to a hot guys charm the moment she meets him. I loved that she was so stubborn and really tried to do the right thing while also looking out for what's best for herself. So many times I've read a book where the girl does something stupid just to satisfy the guy they like and I love that Abby wasn't like that. If he crossed the line, she was out. No matter how much it hurt she wouldn't let herself be around someone who would end up hurting her.

This book has made me a mess of emotions but I ended the book happy. If you're looking for something to read and like a book that gets hold of you from the first page and doesn't let go, then this is your book.

Here are some quotes that I absolutely loved and show a little insight on the roller coaster that is Beautiful Disaster:

“I know we're fucked up, alright? I'm impulsive, and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don't deserve you...but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I loved anyone or anything ever. When you're around, I don't need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands...”

“It's dangerous to need someone that much. You're trying to save him and he's hoping you can. You two are a disaster." I smiled at the ceiling. "It doesn't matter what or why it is. When it's good, Kara... it's beautiful.”

“To douchebags!" he said, gesturing to Brad. "And to girls that break your heart," he bowed his head to me. His eyes lost focus. "And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her.”

What a Boy Needs by Nyrae Dawm

Title: What a Boy Needs
Author: Nyrae Dawn
Publisher: Self-Published
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 5 stars

Summary: A companion novel to WHAT A BOY WANTS.

Jaden Sinclair knows he'll never amount to anything...so why would he deserve a girl like Priscilla Mendoza?

Since last summer, things have been screwed up between Jaden and Pris. He knows it's his fault, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to go a few rounds with her new boyfriend. He also knows he’s the loser his dad calls him, but it doesn’t stop him from wanting her.

After getting a huge bomb dropped on him, Jaden lashes out and lands himself in jail. Everything in his chaotic life is turned upside down and to make it worse, his mom kicks him out in order to side with his dad. Yeah, he’s totally a prize for a girl like Pris.

Sebastian, Aspen, and Pris are all going places in their lives...and he knows he can't keep tagging along for the ride.

The group has one last chance for The Epic Adventure they've been looking for: a road trip to New York, where Jaden's friends will be going to college. Unfortunately, the more time Jaden hangs around Pris, the harder it is to keep the carefully constructed walls between them so she doesn't find out what a train wreck he really is.

When the trip ends, Jaden has to decide if he's ready to say goodbye to his friends, and the girl he loves. He knows what he needs, but will he be man enough to go for it?

Contains mature themes. Some sexual situations and language.

Review: I really liked What a Boy Wants but I'm in love with What a Boy Needs!

Jaden really made my heart hurt. He had so many things going on in his life, people telling him he's worthless I seriously started to tear up with everything he goes through. I loved how realistic this book was; I could definitely see something like this happening to me or someone I know.

I'm still in love with reading books in a boy's POV to the point where I'm tempted to search around for other books like this. I love Nyrae Dawn's writing and she really did a great job with making this book relateable to her readers.

I do feel like this book was slightly shorter then the first one but maybe I just feel like that because I couldn't let go of it for more then five seconds. If you loved What a Boy Wants then you'll definitely be happy with this book. And for anyone who hasn't yet picked up these books: you need to do so asap!

Review: What a Boy Wants by Nyrae Dawn

Title: What a Boy Wants
Author: Nyrae Dawn
Publisher: Self-Published
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating; 5 stars

Summary: Courtesy of watching his mom’s relationships, Sebastian Hawkins knows what girls need to do to get a guy. He has what he considers a PHD in hooking up. When he needs extra cash for a car, Sebastian starts up an online venture as The Hook-up Doctor, to anonymously help girls land the guy of their dreams. Of course, his services don’t offer a happily-ever-after guarantee. He’s seen firsthand getting together never means staying together.

And then he falls in love…

With the last girl he would expect…

Totally not in his game plan.

Suddenly, Sebastian finds himself muddled in the game he’s always prided himself on. He can’t even pick up girls at parties anymore! Why would anyone want to be in love when it turns you into a stuttering, screwed-up, mess with really lame stalker tendencies? Stalking? Totally not his gig.

But the Hook-up Doctor won’t let himself go down easily. He’s always known how to give a girl what she wants and now it’s time to figure out what a boy wants… and he definitely plans on getting it.

Review: I finally understand what all the hype was about this book; it's amazing!

When I first started reading it I thought I'd figured out the whole plot and knew how it was going to end. But I was wrong. I love that this book honestly surprised me and wasn't at all what I was expecting.

A book in a guy's POV? So freaking awesome! I loved that we got to see things in a guy's perspective and really see what their thinking. Sebastian and Jaden are so funny and they had me laughing a lot throughout the book with their stupid jokes and corny pickup lines. Another that was great? Being in a guy's head when they start getting feelings for a girl. Haven't you always wondered what was going through a guys head when he looks at his girlfriend or maybe someone he's interested in?

Overall What a Boy Wants is a cute, fun read and I'm really happy I had the chance to read it. I liked it so much that I went straight to the next book What a Boy Needs (which is in Jaden's POV) as soon as I finished. It's only $0.99 so you guys would be missing out if you didn't give this series a chance!

Review: Easy by Tammara Webber

Title: Easy
Author: Tammara Webber
Publisher: Self-Published
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 5 stars

Summary: When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she’s single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, stalked by her ex’s frat brother, and failing a class for the first time in her life.

Her econ professor gives her an email address for Landon, the class tutor, who shows her that she’s still the same intelligent girl she’s always been. As Jacqueline becomes interested in more from her tutor than a better grade, his teasing responses make the feeling seem mutual. There’s just one problem—their only interactions are through email.

Meanwhile, a guy in her econ class proves his worth the first night she meets him. Nothing like her popular ex or her brainy tutor, Lucas sits on the back row, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. At a downtown club, he disappears after several dances that leave her on fire. When he asks if he can sketch her, alone in her room, she agrees—hoping for more.

Then Jacqueline discovers a withheld connection between her supportive tutor and her seductive classmate, her ex comes back into the picture, and her stalker escalates his attention by spreading rumors that they’ve hooked up. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.

Author Recommendation: Mature Young Adults (language, drinking, sexual situations)

Review: Can I first say that I am in love with this book? This book was un-freaking believable! And I mean that in the best way.

I don't know what I expected when I started reading Easy but it exceeded my expectation by far. I loved the college setting, it makes thing more realistic and mature to me. This book has a little bit of everything: love, loss, happiness, laughter, anguish, guilt. You name it and it's probably here.

I loved the relationship Jacqueline had with her roommate Erin. They definitely have each others backs and it showed a lot throughout the book. If anything this book shows the importance of having a friend or someone you can trust on your side. Something really big happens and I don't want to spoil it but it something not taken lightly and takes up a big chunk of the story. I'm so happy that the author brought this type of thing up and she played it out very well.

Lucas. I don't even know how to begin on explaining how I feel about him. He's the perfect combination of sex appeal, mystery, and a thoughtful and caring guy. Basically he's everything you would look for in a guy. I really got to find me a guy like Lucas but somehow I doubt he'll be on my college campus anywhere. Regardless, Lucas is hiding some secrets; about his past, who he is and the people he knows.

Everyone needs to go on Amazon or Barnes and Noble and buy this book right now! Trust me you won't regret it. Plus it's only $3.99! I'm so happy I decided to read this book instead of holding off till later as I originally planned on doing.

Review: Angel Eyes by Shannon Dittemore

Title: Angel Eyes
Author: Shannon Dittemore
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon

Rating: 3.5 stars

*Obtained from Netgallery and Publisher for honest review

Summary: Once you’ve seen, you can’t unsee. Everything changes when you’ve looked at the world through . . .

ANGEL EYES

Brielle’s a ballerina who went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She’s come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can’t seem to shake.

Jake’s the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.

Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what’s going to happen. And a beauty brighter than Jake or Brielle has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices start.

A realm that only angels and demons—and Brielle—can perceive.

Review: The amount of Angel books out right now is almost ridiculous but I can't say I'm complaining.

The moment we meet Brielle I take a liking to her character. But I also feel incredibly sad for her. She lost her best friend and has this over bearing guilt that she constantly follows her. I can't even imagine what I would do if my best friend died; I'd probably be a complete mess. And I liked that the mourning period was appropriate; I hate when the moment the main character meets the love interest suddenly all their guilt or sadness just magically goes away. Something like that doesn't just go away and I liked that the author didn't do that.

As for the angel aspect I liked that it was different. I tried comparing it to other angel books I've read but I always come up blank. It's like nothing I've read so far and I found that really refreshing considering how big angel books have been recently in YA. I loved the switch in pov's throughout the book, we even got to see things through the bad guy's pov. The action and mystery part of the book was well written and definitely left me on my toes at times.

I really like Jake but I felt like the romance part of the book kind of lacked. I felt like they just sorta  fell in love with each other and all they said was hi to each other. Okay I'm exaggerating but you know what I mean. It was a bit too cliche and fast to make it believable to me.

I enjoyed Angel Eyes and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good angel read. I look forward to seeing what else the author publishes in the future.

Review: The Selection by Kiera Cass

Title: The Selection
Author: Kiera Cass
Publisher: Harper Teen
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 5 stars

Summary: For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Review: The Selection was amazing! It turned out Mrs.Cass was right about staying up all night to finish the book; I just couldn't put it down! The hype for it was well deserved. And yet I don't know if I'll be reading the rest of the series.

America Singer, the main character is a little hard to like at first. She's stubborn, a little selfish and has a bit of an attitude problem. But I quickly grew to love it. I loved how she wasn't afraid to be herself and was firm on staying true to herself. America actually reminded me a bit of Katniss from the Hunger Games. My only complaint about America would be that I wish when things went wrong she would stop being so quick to blame everyone around her and take responsibility for her actions.

Now let's talk romance. In the beginning I was team Aspen (her first love and total hottie) but then Maxon comes into the picture and I find myself completely forgetting about Aspen. I love Maxon; he's such a great guy and he really wants to find a girl to not only rule the throne with but someone he can love and be happy with. I'm am a 100% Team Maxon. I don't even think I realized how much I liked and wanted America to end up with him until Aspen showed up in the book again. I was surprised and shocked by how much I dislike Aspen. It's not really something he did but suddenly every "sweet" thing he said or did looked pathetic and not appealing in any way to me. In fact I kept hoping he would just disappear. Every time they so much as talked to each other I became so upset I almost stopped reading completely a few times. I really wish America didn't still love him.

One of the main reasons I don't know if I'll be picking up the next book is because of the love triangle. Usually I'm all for love triangles but for this book I really don't want their to be one. I don't want their to be any option except Maxon. And I'm scared I'll be disappointed. And their's nothing I hate more then being disappointed in a book. So instead of getting my hopes up I think I'll just wait till the series is complete. And if she chooses Maxon I'll read the series if not, then I don't know. I know I'm being ridiculous and bringing the whole Team Maxon thing to a whole new level but I can't help it.

Despite that I'm not sure if I'll continue the series I still think everyone should read this book. It captivates your attention from the very first page and will definitely leave you wanting more. Even though I'm all worried over the love triangle aspect this book was amazing and still gets five stars in my book.

Review: Kiss in the Dark by Marcia Lynn McClure

Title: Kiss in the Dark
Author: Marcia Lynn McClure
Publisher: Distractions Ink
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 4.5 stars

Summary: “Boston,” he mumbled.
“I mean…Logan…he’s like the man of my dreams! Why would I blow it? What if…” Boston continued to babble.
“Boston,” he said. The commanding sound of his voice caused Boston to cease in her prattling and look to him.
“What?” she asked, somewhat grateful he’d interrupted her panic attack.
He frowned and shook his head.
“Shut up,” he said. “You’re all worked up about nothing.” He reached out, slipping one hand beneath her hair to the back of her neck.
Boston was so startled by his touch, she couldn’t speak—she could only stare up into his mesmerizing green eyes. His hand was strong and warm, powerful and reassuring.
“If it freaks you out so much…just kiss in the dark,” he said.
Boston watched as Vance put the heel of his free hand to the light switch. In an instant the room went black.

Review: This book is so freaking cute! This is my first time reading anything by Marcia Lynn McClure but it definitely won't be my last.

The main character Boston is such a nice girl, probably too nice. She's so nice that the moment she thinks something even remotely mean she instantly feels guilty. She's that type of nice where it seems you could hit them with your car and they would forgive you. Usually that bothers me when a character is like that but surprisingly it didn't annoy me at all. With Boston it goes with who she is I honestly couldn't see her as being anything else.

Throughout the book the point of views actually changes and we get to see things in almost all of Bostons friends. I loved how they well they got together (well with the exception of one person who turned out to be a horrible friend) and were always there for each other. I would totally be friends with them; not only are they loyal but they really know how to have too!

Vance is that guy every girl is looking for but never finds. He's perfect and a complete gentlemen. Whoever said chivalry was dead never met Vance. Both him and his sister are really kind and have good hearts. But their also hiding a secret.

This book did have some cliche moments but I still loved it. Kiss in the Dark definitely made me smile and laugh. It's the perfect book to read during the summer; I recommend it to anyone who likes a cute romance and a book about how friends always have your back.

Feature and Follow Friday

Follow Friday is a weekly feature hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee

Q:  If you could "unread" a book, which one would it be? Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time? Or because it was THAT bad?

A: If I could unread any book it would probably be Thirst No.1 by Christopher Pike. I really wanted to like this book but I just really didn't like it. At all. Every time I look at it on my shelf I can't help but think about how I could have used that money for a better book. Sorry to all the fans of that series, I'm not trying to trash the book at all it just wasn't my thing.

Leave a comment and I'll definitely read it and follow back!

Review: Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James

Age group 18+

Summary: When unworldly student Anastasia Steele first encountered the driven and dazzling young entrepreneur Christian Grey it sparked a sensual affair that changed both of their lives irrevocably. Shocked, intrigued, and, ultimately, repelled by Christian’s singular erotic tastes, Ana demands a deeper commitment. Determined to keep her, Christian agrees.

Now, Ana and Christian have it all—love, passion, intimacy, wealth, and a world of possibilities for their future. But Ana knows that loving her Fifty Shades will not be easy, and that being together will pose challenges that neither of them would anticipate. Ana must somehow learn to share Christian’s opulent lifestyle without sacrificing her own identity. And Christian must overcome his compulsion to control as he wrestles with the demons of a tormented past.

Just when it seems that their strength together will eclipse any obstacle, misfortune, malice, and fate conspire to make Ana’s deepest fears turn to reality.

Review: Final book in the series and has left me happy and eagerly hoping for more.

I'll admit I was a little confused when I started reading this book because it took place months after where we left of in the previous book but I quickly got used to it. The thing I love about this book is that there is never a dull moment. Every page, every chapter is full of surprises and as usual I've lost many nights of sleep. I was really trying to take my time reading this book because I didn't want it to end but sometimes books are so good you can't slow down.

The final book is everything I hoped it would be. Everything was cleared up and I felt satisfied with the ending. Christian is finally able to accept love and his past and Anastasia finally sticks up for herself. But I still want more. Wouldn't it be cool to read a spin off in Kate's POV or Mia's? I've always been a bit curious about them plus we'd still be able to see Christian and Anastasia.

I look forward to reading whatever E.L James comes out with next. I'm so happy I decided to take a chance and read this series; best decision I've made this year so far!

Q:  Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?

A: Hmm I'd have to say Clara's father in Stay by Deb Caletti. You can tell how much he loves his daughter and would do anything for her, even move at a moments notice. I also love his funny jokes and the way he can always make Clara feel better even after a crappy day.

What do you guys think? Leave a comment and I'll be sure to check out your answers! :)

Review: Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James

Title: Fifty Shades Darker
Author: E.L. James
Publisher: Vintage
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 5 stars

Age group: 18+

Summary: Daunted by the singular tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful, tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house.

But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty Shades.

While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her, and make the most important decision of her life.

Review: It's kind of sad just how much I enjoy this series. But despite what a lot of people think about this series, it's good!

So much happens in this book, I don't even know where to start. We learn so much more about Christian's past, and oh my gosh does he have some dark secrets. I couldn't believe half the things I read! I kept having those embarrassing moments where you gasp and keep repeating things like "Oh my god, oh my god" and "I can't believe that just happened! This book is so crazy!" Fortunately my family is used to me talking to myself when I read a book but I'm pretty sure they think I'm weird after all the talking I did for this book.

Christian is every bit as possessive and demanding as the last book but we also get to see more of his happy/playful side. I was so happy with how much Christian really was willing to make things work with Ana. He's one of those character that you really can't help but love. Especially with his email banter with Ana. Can I just say aww! Every time they emailed each other during work I had the biggest grin on my face at all the cute things they said.

Ana also changes a bit in the book as well. She's still learning a lot but I'm proud of how well she takes everything, one day at a time. I still wish she wouldn't be so quick to do whatever Christian wants but I will admit she does improve a little in that department. Plus I could see how it could be hard to deny Christian what he wants, he's pretty stubborn.

My only complaint would be that I feel like their relationship is moving a bit too fast. It has barely been a month and they keep talking about forever. If all this drama happens in five weeks can you imagine how crazy their relationship would be in a year? Also I feel like they really need to talk more, get to know each other. They've both mention that they do need to spend more time talking and I hope in the final book this happens.

Fifty Shades Darker is as captivating as the first book and I lots even more sleep reading this book then I did for the first one. I just couldn't put the book down! Fans won't be disappointed but they will be shocked by the secrets spilled.

Summary: Sometimes hiding the truth requires more than a lie . . .
From the outside, Coley Sterling’s life seems pretty normal . . . whatever that means. It’s not perfect—her best friend is seriously mad at her and her dance team captains keep giving her a hard time—but Coley’s adorable, sweet crush Reece helps distract her from the annoying drama. Plus, she has a great family to fall back on—with a stepdad and mom who would stop at nothing to keep her and her siblings happy and safe.

But Coley has a lot of secrets. She won’t admit—not even to herself—that her almost-perfect life is her own carefully-crafted façade. That for years she’s been burying the shame and guilt over a relationship that crossed the line. Now, Coley and Reece are getting closer, and as Coley has the chance at her first real boyfriend, a decade’s worth of lies are on the verge of unraveling.

Mindi Scott offers an absorbing, layered glimpse into the life of an everygirl living a nightmare that no one would suspect in this unforgettable powerhouse of a novel.

Review: What can I possibly say that could sum up how I'm feeling after reading this story? I feel as if words would fail because for the first time in a long time I feel speechless. This book is heart wrenching in the best way. I commend Mindi Scott for having the courage to write about something  like abuse. It's something that happens to a lot of people, teens especially and I know many people of all ages will find comfort in this book.

From the first page I was in love with this book and quickly put my other books on hold. I love Coley; she's a perfect protagonist. I felt like crying when I finally realized just how messed up Coley's life really was. No one should have to go through what she did. I can't really go into any more detail because I don't want to spoil anything but trust me when I say you won't forget this story easily.

This story just shows how we don't really know anyone. People who seem happy and perfect and normal on the outside could be miserable and depressed on the inside. I've always felt this way but after reading Live Through This I'm an even more firmer believer then ever.

To sum it up in one sentence I'd say this book is a definite read. This is the first book I've read from Mindi Scott but I've got to say I'm looking forward to her future books. So guys go and pre-order this book because I promise you won't regret it at all!

Review: Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

Title: Fifty Shades of Grey
Author: E.L. James
Publisher: Vintage
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 4.5 stars

Summary: When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind - until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time.

The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny.

Can their relationship transcend physical passion? Will Ana find it in herself to submit to the self-indulgent Master? And if she does, will she still love what she finds?

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

Review: So this is what all the fuss is about. To say this series has gotten a lot of attention would be an understatement. I see this book series everywhere I go; on the train, walking, all over the internet. And when my friend started gushing about how great it was and how I had to read it, I gave in. And I'm a little ashamed to say this but I've joined the raving fan group.

I don't know what it is about this book that makes me like it so much. I can't pinpoint one exact thing but one minute I'm slightly intrigued, and the next I can't put it down. Christian Grey is one complex character! He has some serious baggage (what's in the bag, I don't know). And he does some things that seriously make me hate him.Like for example, his weird love for BDSM. I'm not saying that people who enjoy that type of thing are bad, if you like that sort of thing then that's great for you. But it's just not my thing. I'm sorry but I do not, can not and will not understand how Ana could let him whip her/hit her. Even if it is part of the whole role playing thing. I didn't find it entertaining, hell even Ana didn't like it. Every time he "punished" her I wanted to jump into my kindle and kill Christian. But then he has these moments these moments where he's completely sweet and loving and I'm left wondering if I should hate him or not.

Anastasia.Ana, poor Ana. She had no idea what she getting herself into. Well she did but the naive part of her thought she could handle it. I really do like Ana but I wish she wasn't so easily persuaded by Christian. She was strong and I'm glad she stood her ground for most things but still. But I love her personality; she's incredible sweet, not to mention funny. Her conscience had me laughing out loud so many times during the book.

This book is totally engrossing and I've had many sleepless nights because of it. I feel too many people didn't like it because they put way too much thought and criticism into this book. I have this theory that whenever something is getting too much good attention we have to go and find something bad about it. I'll admit, I did the same thing at first  but once I just relaxed and kept an open mind I really enjoyed this book.

THIS BOOK REALLY SHOULDN'T BE READ BY ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18!!! KEEP AWAY FROM YOUR CHILDREN, SERIOUSLY!

Review: Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally

Title: Catching Jordan
Author: Miranda Kenneally
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
Summary: Goodreads
Buy: Amazon
Rating: 5 stars

Summary: What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though-she leads them as the captain and quarterback of her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys, and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university. But now there's a new guy in town who threatens her starting position... suddenly she's hoping he'll see her as more than just a teammate.

Review: All the good reviews I've read about this book turned out to be well deserved! I am officially in love with book, not to mention Miranda Kenneally has made it to my look-for authors list.

First off, I loved that this was about a girl playing football; I mean when was the last time you ever read anything like that? Very original. Jordan is definitely one of the boys, and I loved how great she got along with her team. She's such a tomboy and I found myself smiling a lot at her thoughts about girly girls and the cheerleaders.

I don't know why but when unfortunately even though I really enjoyed this book, it was a little to easy for me too put it down and read a different book in the beginning. But my sister (who never reads) recommended this book and kept bothering me to pick it back up again so I eventually did. And then I fell in love with it. Maybe I was just not used to reading a book like this but once I really gave it a chance I was really happy.

The one thing that took me by surprise but I really liked was the language of the book. Yes there is cursing and sex involved in the book but its not detailed or over the top at all. I liked that Jordan cursed because in reality that's exactly what teenagers do in almost every other sentence.

Catching Jordan is a definite read for everyone; sports fan or not. I look forward to reading future books from Miranda Kenneally including Stealing Parker, the companion novel to Catching Jordan.
